David Ford

photoDavid, along with his partner Jonathan Clark, started Bright Blue Day (formerly Design Group) in 1982. Before this David was a client of all things! Working for Unilever in brand marketing, before the call of the creative world led him on secondment to J. Walter Thompson, London, to work across a variety of prestigious brands for TV and Press Campaigns.

From J. Walter Thompson he moved to BBDO to AMVBBDO to Still Price working on both advertising and integrated campaigns for clients such as Delta Airlines, Apple Computers and Pepsi before starting Bright Blue Day.

Operating out of Poole, Bright Blue Day has a team of 60 people, working with an international client base. The agency is renowned for the effectiveness of its work on clients such as 3Com, Sony, Royal Mail, Shell, Toshiba, bmi and Loch Fyne Oysters.

When not working, David enjoys mountain biking and skiing and spending time with Ed, his trusted Airdale Terrier.

Frank Viva

photoAfter graduating as a scholarship student from the Fine Arts department of the Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto, Frank realized he needed to make some money to pay the rent – quickly! So began an unplanned career as a commercial illustrator. He was soon working for publications such as Time, Esquire, The New York Times, The Boston Globe and The Washington Post. While Frank enjoyed doing editorial illustration (and still does), he didn't necessarily like how his work was used. And so began a second career as a graphic designer. With more than 350 awards from Communication Arts, Graphis, AIGA, the British D&AD and many other organizations, Frank lectures when asked (and sometimes when not), judges competitions and writes a column in Applied Arts magazine. A past president of The Advertising & Design Club of Canada, he is the Creative Director at Viva & Co. He is also an equal partner with his friend Todd Temporale at Whigby. Frank is passionate about cooking and wine (all kinds), his daily bike ride to work (weather permitting), the ongoing (and maddening) restoration of his modernist house and the latest children's book he's working on.

Nicolas Champion

Nicolas CampionA graduate from EMSAT (Paris Superior School of Graphic Arts) he honed his skills amongst those passionate about graphic design, typography and photography. After graduating, he discovered the joys and surprises of the real world. Following several stopovers at different agencies, he settled in as Art Director for large accounts at Young & Rubicam/Paragraph. He left with two managers and set up a new venture - Cup of Tea, where the approach to communication was different with more attention to detail. He also took on the role of art director at lifestyle magazine Tribeca, focused on urban and artistic culture. He became creative director and partner at Reflex, an agency where the human dimension successfully cohabits with an international dimension and where being independent allows more freedom and greater reactivity. All this added to the fact that most of their clients are prestigious, high-end companies where demands must be met and the need for precision remains constant. He is still there today, happy and passionate.

A committed biker, he loves speed, and is addicted to rock music. He can’t help scribbling in his notebooks, from small thoughts to complete illustration. His plans? They are all there in those notebooks...
